BK ACADEMY (aka. BKPlay)

We've had both of our kids in BK Academy, and they've grown so much the past couple of years. Meera's cultivated an environment of psychological safety, where gifted kids can be themselves and uniqueness is celebrated. Academically, she's met children at their appropriate level and supported their continued growth. In a non-Covid school year, there's been extracurricular actives (e.g. martial arts, chess, coding, science) that allows kids to expand their interests. BK has also emphasized social emotional learning. There's plenty of time for unstructured play, allowing kids to have teamwork, work though conflict, and negotiate. Though these interactions, our kids have had the opportunity to build on empathy, decision-making, and social/self awareness. Being a small school, we've gotten to know all of the families at BK, and this community is one of the highlights of attending. All of the families are supportive and have faced similar joys and challenges of raising gifted children. We've learned so much and have made life-long friendships through our time at BK -- we're so grateful to have been a part of this community.

Ms. Meera is an extraordinary teacher and has done so much for both of our kids. Our son went to BK for a few years and grew tremendously both socially and academically. My daughter also thrived and gained so much confidence learning from others and finding her own drive. Dr. Shin understands gifted children and their psychology very well. She employed clever techniques to pair children with complimentary skill-sets to help each-other group during group exercises. She encouraged open and creative expression through unstructured formats and play. She customized the curriculum for each child paying close attention to areas of advancement and development. Our kids were always challenged but also had tremendous confidence and drive. We're grateful for the foundation Ms. Meera gave both of our children and fully believe their educational career would not be as bright were it not for these critical early years at BK.

Bk Academy was a recommendation from a neurophysiologist after my son was confirmed as gifted. Ms. Meera played a huge role in transforming my son to whom he is today. He had social-emotional issues when he joined BK. After 2 years at BK, my son changed drastically. He felt very comfortable being around his peers. He opened up so much in the 2 yrs he spent at BK. He loved being around with other gifted kids. Atlast felt he belonged somewhere, a place where the kids will understand him.If your child is gifted, definitely consider BK Academy

In January of 2016, we moved our daughter from a different kindergarten to BK because she started complaining about how she hated learning and has no friends to play with. Within a couple weeks at BK, she said 'Mom, BK is like a magic! All of a sudden, I love learning!' (Her exact words!) Then, she also met her BFFs who she could really connect with. Dr. Shin really understands the gifted children and their unique needs. I saw so many kids who became happier, more social, and learned faster after coming to BK thanks to Dr. Shin's individualized guidance.

Our son loved going to BK Play Academy when he was in Pre-k and K. He thrived and learnt how to read and basic math concepts. Teacher to student ratio was good and the teachers helped him a lot with social skills. Kids went on many field trips, researched about topics like bugs, rocks and gave presentation skills. We would recommend this school highly for everyone. Ms. Meera takes time to get to know your child in and out and develop weekly goals as well with them.

The moment I got to know about Maestro Goslin’s concert, I was all set to attend it and treat myself with a magical experience. I grew up listening to his radio and television appearances and seeing him in person was a lifetime opportunity. His fingers play piano in such a magical way. Looking forward to listen to him again.
