Top Scholarships In Asia For International Students

As Asia continues to develop economically, urbanize, and reform education, more possibilities for ambitious international students, such as foreign bursaries and other support, become available.

The following is a list of some of Asia's most intriguing bonds and funding opportunities, including bursaries from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea, as well as a number of other prominent global funds.

Scholarships for International Students to study in China

  • International Ph.D. applicants studying in China are welcome to apply for the CAS-TWAS president's Ph.D. scholarship program.
  • Great Wall Program: Scholarships are available for students from underprivileged nations to study in China at all levels for one year.
  • Bursaries from the Chinese government: The Chinese government provides scholarships to EU students who want to study in China. Every student is welcome.
  • Tsinghua University: Tsinghua University in Beijing provides bursaries.

Scholarships to Study in Hong Kong

  • HKSAR Government Scholarships students studying at domestic and abroad universities, including Belt and Road bonds in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam (it will be expanded in phases to students from other Belt and Road countries).

Scholarship Program for Asian Students in Japan

  • The government-approved Aichi Prefectural Manufacturing Program provides a variety of abroad study alternatives for Asian graduates.
  • ADB-Japan Scholarships to study economics, management, science, and technology are offered in Japan for students from a number of Asian and Pacific countries.
  • Asian bursaries are offered through the Japan-IMF ASIA scholarship programme for students working in economics and finance in government agencies (for example, the Ministry of Commerce) who want to study in Japan on a specific subject. Only students from approved Asian countries may apply.
  • Japan's Government MEXT International Research Students Grants — Japanese government-funded graduate study scholarships. The next round of voting will be in April of 2019.
  • Postdoctoral Fellowship Program of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) - Fellowships for doctoral candidates who intend to do research in a recognized Japanese university.
  • Foreign students may apply for Keio University's "Design of the Future" grant, which gives full-time foreign bursaries for study in any Keio University field in Japan.
  • International Students Pursuing a Ph.D. in Engineering at the University of Technology in Kochi, Japan, are eligible for a bursary. Engineering students from designated countries can apply for bursaries to study at Kochi University of Technology (KUT).
  • ABE Initiative Masters Degree - A bursary initiative for African students desiring to pursue a master's degree in development at a recognized university.
  • Japan Bursary Program for MEXT Scholarships is offered for Canadians who want to study in Japan. Japanese students are given additional financial aid.
  • The Otsuka Toshimi Scholarship Foundation provides international bursaries to Japanese students pursuing medical, pharmacy, nutrition, physical education, or business administration degrees.
  • The University of Tokyo's International Student Special Scholarship programme grants around 100 foreign academic research graduate scholarships.

  • Prospective students can apply for foreign scholarships at the Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU).
  • Education and Research Bursaries at Chulalongkorn University is an initiative of the Chulalongkorn University of Thailand for international students throughout the world.
  • Commonwealth of Nations Scholarship Program - India – In India, Commonwealth bonds are available for undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate courses (excluding medicine and dentistry). The Cultural Relations Indian Council provided funding for this endeavor (ICCR).
  • The ICCR offers bursaries to African students in India.
  • KIMEP University in Almaty, Kazakhstan, may provide a variety of undergraduate scholarships.
  • Malaysia International Scholarships (MIS) are governmental awards to international students to encourage them to pursue master's and doctorate degrees at Malaysian universities. Students majoring in science and engineering are given preferential consideration.
