Nursing is not only a necessary profession, but it is also in high demand. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the nursing profession will add 175,900 new jobs each year on average for the next ten years.

Indeed, many people assume that as access to health care grows and the population ages, the United States will face a nurse shortage. Nursing scholarships are one method of attracting newcomers to the field.

  1. Jane Delano Student Nurse Scholarship

Jane Delano, the principal organiser of the Red Cross Nursing Service, is credited with the more than 20,000 Red Cross nurses who participated in World War I as a result of her efforts. The Red Cross recognises her memory today with a nursing scholarship that encourages students to pursue nursing as a profession and to volunteer with the Red Cross. Students with a substantial financial need are given priority.

  • Enrolled in a nursing programme in the United States that is accredited

  1.  The Foundation of the National Student Nurses Association (FNSNA) General Scholarship

The FNSNA has been supporting and promoting the nursing profession for over 50 years, including by providing scholarships to nursing students. Students studying in particular areas, such as critical care and emergency nursing, or students from underrepresented groups in nursing, are usually eligible for the FNSNA General Scholarship.

Amount: $7,500 maximum

The deadline for submissions is January 15, 2021.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Enrolled in a state-approved nursing programme leading to an associate, baccalaureate, certificate, direct-entry master's degree, RN to BSN/MSN completion, LPN/LVN to RN, or accelerated nursing programmes.
  • Pre-nursing students enrolled in classes to prepare for a nursing degree.
  • Taking a minimum of six (6) credits each semester
  • Participating in student nursing associations and/or community health initiatives
  • Academic performance history

  1.  Hurst Review Services Nursing AACN Scholarship

This excellent scholarship opportunity is offered by Hurst Review Services to entry-level nursing students. Winners are selected twice a year, and to be qualified, they must be enrolled in an AACN member organisation.

  • Price a total of $2,500
  • The deadlines are January 15th and July 15th.
  • Pre-licensure students enrolled in AACN member schools with a 3.2 GPA are eligible.
  • Utilization Requirements: Write a 250-word (maximum) essay about your educational, career, and plans, as well as why you should be considered for the scholarship.
  1. TYLENOL Future Care Scholarship

TYLENOL has been assisting promising individuals for over 25 years, encouraging them to follow their goals of medicine by relieving financial stress and allowing them to concentrate on their studies. Ten $10,000 scholarships and 25 $5,000 scholarships are awarded each year to students participating in a number of health care programmes, including nursing.

  1. Nurses Make a Difference Scholarship

The Nurses Who Make a Difference event is sponsored by Cascade Healthcare Solutions, an online healthcare supply retailer. The scholarship is given to a future nurse who is dedicated to improving the lives of her patients. Applicants must write a 200- to 300-word essay on a topic that changes every year. The prompt from the previous year was: Who has had the greatest impact on your decision to pursue a career in nursing, and why?

The sum is $1,000.

The deadline is August 1st.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Undergraduates enrolled in a nursing degree programme at an accredited college or university, or high school students admitted into a college and planning to major in nursing
  • Added together GPA of 3.0
  • Legally residing in the United States or holding a valid student visa
  • An essay of 200-300 words is needed as part of the application process.
  1. Janel Parker Mobility Scholarship

Janel Parker, a long-time representative of both ANNA and the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission, is honoured with this distinction (NNCC). The scholarship aims to provide financial support to nurses who want to pursue a career in nephrology nursing.

  • Price a total of $2,500
  • The deadline for applications is November 15, 2021.

Eligibility requirements:

  • For a minimum of two years, you must be a full member of the American Nephrology Nurses Association (ANNA).
  • Worked as a nephrology nurse and provided health care services to patients.
  • Accepted into or enrolled in a nursing baccalaureate or higher degree programme
  • Application requirements include a transcript, three letters of recommendation, and an essay
