The PhD candidate will work with Professors Roman Pevzner, Andrej Bona and Boris Gurevich on developing new algorithms for processing, analysis and inversion of active and passive seismic data and applying these algorithms to field data. The PhD study will build upon the work of the Centre for Exploration Geophysics in the analysis of surface and borehole geophysical monitoring and application of fibre-optic technology for acquisition of active and passive seismic studies. The candidate is expected to have working knowledge of seismic wave theory, signal processing and scientific programming.

Benefits

• The successful candidate will receive a stipend of $28,854 per annum (tax free), indexed annually. • The duration of the award shall be for three years with a possible extension of up to six months (maximum), assessed on a case by case basis. • In addition, this scholarship will include a tuition fee waiver for a successful international candidate.
