Since its founding in 1902, OceanFirst Bank has built a legacy as a good neighbor and responsible corporate citizen. The Bank’s strong commitment to helping families, schools, organizations, and communities has spanned generations reaching new heights in 1996 with the creation of OceanFirst Foundation. The Foundation provides grants to nonprofits that meet community needs within the OceanFirst footprint. One of the top priorities of OceanFirst Foundation is supporting youth development and education.
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
In 2024, OceanFirst Foundation will provide grants to Atlantic Cape Community College, Brookdale Community College, Georgian Court University, Ocean County College, Monmouth University, Rowan College of South Jersey, Rowan University, Stockton University, and The College of New Jersey for the purpose of awarding scholarships for undergraduate education.
Scholarships will be awarded to students in any year of study as follows:
Community Colleges
• Atlantic Cape Community College Thirty (30) $1,000 Scholarships
• Brookdale Community College Thirty (30) $1,000 Scholarships
• Ocean County College Thirty (30) $1,000 Scholarships
• Rowan College of South Jersey - Thirty (30) $1,000 Scholarships
Cumberland & Gloucester Campuses
Universities
• Georgian Court University Twelve (12) $2,500 Scholarships
• Monmouth University Twelve (12) $2,500 Scholarships
• Rowan University Twelve (12) $2,500 Scholarships
• Stockton University Twelve (12) $2,500 Scholarships
• The College of New Jersey Twelve (12) $2,500 Scholarships
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
• Applicants must currently reside within the OceanFirst footprint, see page 3 for residency requirements.
• Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the time of application and must provide a copy of their high school or college transcript. If your transcript is already on file with the College/University you are attending, you do not need to resend. USE OF SCHOLARSHIP Scholarship recipients may only use the scholarship for direct educational expenses. SELECTION Each College/University will evaluate all scholarship applications received, select recipients, and award funds based on the College/University’s existing policies and procedures. Selection decisions are made completely independent of OceanFirst Foundation. Representatives from OceanFirst Bank and OceanFirst Foundation, including all employees and board members, do not participate in the selection process. TO APPLY Complete the application and email or mail to the appropriate College/University address noted below. You must provide a copy of your high school or college transcript. Your application must be received by July 1, 2024 to be considered for this scholarship. We highly recommend you contact the school to which you are applying to confirm the receipt of your application.
OceanFirst Foundation has a long-standing tradition of supporting higher education. Each year, the Foundation awards grants to local Colleges and Universities for the purpose of awarding scholarships. In the previous fourteen years of the Ocean First Scholarship Program, $4+ million has been awarded to more than 2,800 students from across OceanFirst Bank’s footprint to help them pursue their dream of higher education. In 2024, we’re awarding $270,000 to our partner schools – Atlantic Cape Community College, Brookdale Community College, Georgian Court University, Monmouth University, Ocean County College, Rowan College South Jersey, Rowan University, Stockton University, and The College of New Jersey to provide scholarships for direct educational expenses to students in any year of undergraduate study. OceanFirst Scholarship recipients at Community Colleges receive $1,000 awards and students attending the 4-year public and private Universities receive $2,500 awards.
