The Jack M. Wilson Presidential Scholarship Fund was established in 2011 to provide special recognition to University of Massachusetts (UMass) undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate academic excellence and a passion for public service. During President Wilson’s 2003-2011 tenure as leader of UMass, he was a strong advocate for research and innovation, understanding that robust research universities are critical to the state’s knowledge-based economy. Under his leadership, UMass took major steps forward in all key areas: from enrollment, to research funding, to endowment. The Jack M. Wilson Presidential Scholarship Fund commemorates President Wilson’s strong record of accomplishment and creates scholarship opportunities for deserving students.
The application process involves completion of an application form, submission by email of all required materials as PDF attachments (these vary by scholarship but generally include transcript, essay(s), and letters of recommendation), and, for semifinalists, a preliminary interview. Incomplete applications will not be considered. To apply, please visit the Presidential and Alumni Scholarships website and follow application instructions. From there, you will then receive an email confirmation with additional instructions that you must follow in order to be considered for nomination.
